Glaziers in Romford
Romford is the main commercial hub of the London Borough of Havering, a busy Essex market town with a major retail centre, an active night-time economy and excellent transport links via the A12, A127 and frequent trains to London Liverpool Street. That intensity of trade and footfall creates consistent demand for reliable glazing. SGC Glass is an Essex-based glazing contractor that has served the area since 1995, and our glaziers in Romford cover everything from shopfront repair to full window installation and commercial projects.
Commercial Glaziers in Romford
Romford’s commercial activity is concentrated around The Liberty Shopping Centre, the pedestrianised High Street and Market Place, home to Romford Market, the largest market in the borough. The town also has one of the highest concentrations of bars and nightclubs in Greater London outside the West End. SGC Glass works with retailers, hospitality operators, office occupiers and property developers across Romford, providing commercial glazing that balances appearance, security and durability.
Our commercial work in Romford covers the installation and replacement of aluminium shopfronts, large commercial window arrays, glass partitions for offices, and glass balustrades for multi-level retail and commercial premises. We work closely with contractors, facilities managers and architects to ensure glazing integrates with the building’s design and is completed to the required standard. SGC Glass is CHAS accredited, Achilles accredited, SafeContractor and ConstructionLine approved, and a member of the Glass and Glazing Federation, so clients in Romford can be confident in the quality of materials and the competence of the team on site.
For Romford’s taller town-centre and mixed-use developments, we deploy specialist access equipment including cherry pickers, spider cranes and vacuum lifters, allowing us to complete high-level glazing safely at height. Our glaziers are PASMA and IPAF certified, and DBS checks are available for any site that requires them.
Minimal disruption was really important to us and they absolutely delivered on that. Communication throughout was great; we always knew what was happening and when. The quality of the finished work was first class, and the pricing was competitive.
We'll definitely be using SGC Glass again for future projects.
Thanks also to Richard for making sure the design was exactly what I wanted. A great company to deal with at a fair price. Second time I’ve used them and I would definitely continue to do so! Many thanks SGC Glass Ltd.
Simply amazing and we couldn’t be happier.
Thank you so much for your review – it means a lot to us! We are so happy that you are pleased with our service. We will pass on the feedback to the rest of the team.
Great company to deal with, smooth sailing from start to finish. Definitely recommend to all.
Sorted out my bespoke glass order in no time.
Chris, who is very friendly and helpful, who installed the door was excellent, as taking out the old door without damaging the exterior render was not straight forward. But he managed to do it with just minor damage, which he repaired it once the door was fitted.
We’re very pleased with the final product and Chris went the extra mile to make sure the small details were done well.
We’d recommend SGC to others, and are waiting a quote for some further windows from them.
Star service. Highly recommend.
When challenges were finally resolved, Chris and Charlie came and fitted 4 windows and a door in my flat in London, did an excellent job, taking great care when removing the old ones to avoid any damage. They were very polite, the finishing was to a very high standard and they made sure everything was tidied up. Definitely recommend.
Product quality – excellent.
Installation team workmanship and knowledge – excellent.
Very professional and extremely friendly staff who could not have been more helpful.
would recommend SGC to anyone for any Double glazing requirements.
The workmen turned up promptly, worked quickly and carefully and cleaned up after themselves.
The process from discussing what what needed, the cost, and arranging a date for the work (which had to fit in with other work being done) all went smoothly.
I would use SMC Glass again.
Perfect
Shopfront Repair and Installation in Romford
With one of the busiest retail and night-time economies in East London, Romford’s shopfronts are under constant pressure, and accidental damage, vandalism and attempted break-ins are a genuine concern for local businesses. SGC Glass provides rapid shopfront repair across Romford, from independent units on Market Place to larger premises in and around The Liberty, arriving quickly, making the area safe and completing repairs with minimal disruption to trading.
We supply and install aluminium-framed shopfronts using toughened safety glass, anti bandit laminated glass or double-glazed units, depending on the security level and thermal performance your business needs. Laminated glass, which holds together when smashed rather than shattering, is a particularly sensible choice for Romford’s busier streets, where public safety around a broken shopfront is a real concern. Where immediate permanent repair is not possible, we will board up the opening securely as a first step.

Boarding Up Services in Romford
SGC Glass provides professional boarding up across Romford for both commercial and residential properties. Whether following a break-in at a town-centre shop, storm damage to a residential window, or as a temporary measure while glazing is being replaced, our team installs secure boarding quickly and returns to complete the permanent repair as soon as materials are available.
In a busy commercial centre like Romford, a properly boarded property is also a statement of management. It signals that the premises are actively monitored and that repairs are in hand, which can reduce the risk of further opportunistic damage. We aim to complete permanent repairs at the earliest opportunity and install boarding as neatly as possible while work is pending.
Window Installation and Replacement in Romford
Romford’s housing stock includes a wide mix of property types, from terraced and semi-detached houses and converted flats to newer apartment developments and period homes in districts such as Gidea Park. SGC Glass supplies and installs double-glazed windows for all property types across Romford, providing improved thermal performance, better acoustic insulation and enhanced security compared with older single-glazed or failed-sealed units.
Where a building’s appearance cannot be altered, for example in a conservation area such as Gidea Park, secondary glazing is an effective option, improving insulation and reducing noise without changing the external look of the property. When double-glazed units fail and show condensation between the panes, we can often carry out a sealed unit replacement without disturbing the frame. For full replacement, we offer uPVC and aluminium windows and doors, alongside complete door installation.
Emergency Glaziers in Romford
Romford’s lively night-time economy means glass damage can happen at any time, and an unsecured shopfront or window is both a safety risk and an open invitation. SGC Glass operates an emergency glazing service covering Romford and the wider Havering area, responding to callouts promptly. Our emergency glaziers arrive equipped to clear broken glass safely, assess the damage, install temporary boarding if needed and proceed with a permanent repair as quickly as possible.
Because we are based in Essex, we can reach Romford quickly when an emergency arises. Our glaziers clear all broken glass from the site before leaving, and we do not leave a job until the property is properly secured. If you are dealing with a glazing emergency in Romford, contact SGC Glass immediately.

Romford Glazing FAQs
As an Essex-based contractor, SGC Glass can reach Romford quickly through our emergency glazing service. Response times depend on current demand, but glazing emergencies are always prioritised, particularly where security or safety is immediately compromised. Temporary boarding can be installed straight away if permanent repair materials are not yet available.
Yes. SGC Glass provides shopfront glass replacement across Romford for businesses of all sizes, including premises in and around The Liberty and Market Place. We work with toughened safety glass, laminated glass and double-glazed shopfront units, and we can supply and install aluminium-framed shopfronts or work within existing frames, aiming to complete repairs without disrupting trading where possible.
Laminated glass consists of two or more panes bonded with a plastic interlayer. When broken, the interlayer holds the fragments together rather than allowing the glass to shatter. This makes it a popular choice for shopfronts in busy areas like Romford, where security is a priority, as it resists forced entry more effectively than standard toughened glass.
Yes. Secondary glazing is an effective option where the external appearance of a window cannot be changed, or where improved insulation and noise reduction are needed without full replacement, which is particularly useful for properties near Romford’s busier roads. SGC Glass supplies and installs secondary glazing for residential and commercial properties across the area.
