SGC Glass works at a residence in Downham, Essex

SGC Glass specialises in all residential and commercial glazing across London, Essex and the surrounding areas. For this 2- day project, we travelled to Downham in Essex, for our client who required 8 large, insulated glass units with solar control, toughened safety glass to be replaced.

SGC Glass faced the challenge of replacing 8 large, double-glazed units on different elevations on this large extension to the client’s property. These units were critical for maintaining energy efficiency and the aesthetics of their property.

To address the challenges our team were facing, our operatives carried out a comprehensive survey of our client’s property that included the supply, installation, removal and disposal of existing units over a 2-day period.

All 8 units that required replacing had the same glass specification; 8mm Coolite SKN 176ii Toughened Safety Glass Outer Pane with a Black Warm Edge Spacer with Argon and 8mm Clear Toughened Safety Glass Inner Pane.

As agreed with our client, an external mobile scaffold tower would be erected to aid our glaziers fitting the higher units. With a spider crane and powered vacuum suction pack, the units were attached and lifted into place. Using lifting aids helped to reduce the risk of injury through manual handling and gave our glaziers more time in those critical moments when setting the large panes of glass.
